Viewed carried 53.5kg to win the 2008 Melbourne Cup and was given 57kg this year with Carpenter expected to give him another kilogram for Saturday's victory.
Efficient, winner of the 2007 Melbourne Cup, is topweight this year with 58kg and cannot be penalised for his recent weight-for-age win in the Turnbull Stakes.
"Efficient is the measuring stick," Carpenter told TVN.
"Viewed is already higher up in the weights than previous Caulfield Cup winners but he will get a penalty.
"I've got to give him something. I will announce it at noon tomorrow."
Viewed and Efficient were sharing equal favouritism at $6 with TAB Sportsbet on Sunday.
