Emerging star So You Think will join the star studded line-up for the Caulfield Guineas robbing the Spring Champion Stakes in Sydney of its favourite.

Trainer Bart Cummings has decided the 1600m race in Melbourne on October 10 is a more lucrative Group One option for So You Think, winner of Saturday's Group Three Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill at just his third start.

It means the colt will be taking on a much stronger field including Golden Rose winner Denman and runner-up Trusting who are the $4 equal favourites.

So You Think carries the black and white checks of Dato Tan Chin Nam whose big-race success with his long time friend includes recent Guineas winners Wonderful World and God's Own.

"The Guineas is a level above the Spring Champion but it's worth a million dollars and the other race is down to $350,000," Dato Tan's bloodstock manager Duncan Ramage said.

"It is also three weeks between runs and back to a mile which should suit him at this stage of his career."

Denman will step out for his first start since the Golden Rose when he runs in the Group Two Stan Fox Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

His Darley stablemate Demerit put himself into calculations with his victory over Trusting in Saturday's Guineas Prelude.

But trainer Peter Snowden is not committed to running both in the Guineas and says they cannot be compared.

"Demerit is not Denman but he is a talented horse in his own right," Snowden said.

"He took a big step up.

"It's a calculated risk, you throw them in the deep end and hope they can swim.

"But we will wait and see what happens with Denman on Saturday before we talk about the Guineas."

So You Think is at $5.50 with TAB Sportsbet for the Guineas with Prelude third placegetter Manhattan Rain at $9 and Demerit at $10.

More than Great, an $18 chance for the Guineas, is also scheduled to line up in the Stan Fox.

The David Payne-trained colt ran second to Denman in the Run To The Rose and edged out So You Think in a deceptive photo finish to the Ming Dynasty on September 5.
