The strength of the Blue Diamond Stakes form will be put to the test at Randwick on Saturday and punters expect it to stack up.

Classy colt Beneteau, who finished third as favourite to Star Witness in the Victorian Group One, is the $1.65 TAB Sportsbet elect for the Skyline Stakes (1200m).

Flying filly Crystal Lily, sixth in the Blue Diamond, has been heavily backed in the Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m), firming into $2.90 outright favouritism after opening the $4 second favourite.

Beneteau has already proven himself the Sydney way of going, scoring an impressive debut win over subsequent Widden Stakes winner Georgette Silk in January.

But TAB Sportsbet's Glenn Munsie said the colt would have to produce an extraordinary performance in the Skyline to bump Kindergarten Stakes winner Solar Charged from her top spot in Golden Slipper betting.

"He would have to be ultra, ultra-impressive to replace Solar Charged as the Golden Slipper favourite," Munsie said.

"If you look at the horses Beneteau is racing on Saturday, horses like Ilovethiscity, Hinchinbrook and Brightexpectations, they're not really looked at as Golden Slipper horses at this stage.

"The fillies race (Sweet Embrace) on Saturday appears a much stronger race in terms of depth and it being a pointer to the Slipper.

"You've got Crystal Lily, Zutara, Ambers Waltz, Divorces and Mafia Miss so you've got some of that Silver Slipper form coming through as well."

Damien Oliver takes over from apprentice Daniel Ganderton aboard Beneteau who is on the second line of Slipper betting at $7 with Solar Charged at $4.60.

The Skyline will be his final lead-up run and if recent history is anything to go by, it might well prove the ideal launching pad.

Dance Hero in 2004 and Prowl in 1998 both claimed the Skyline Stakes-Golden Slipper double while last year's winner of the Randwick feature, Manhattan Rain, went on to be placed in the Slipper.

Stratum was runner-up to Snitzel in the 2005 Skyline and went one better on Slipper day while Choisir (2002), Excellerator (2001), Assertive Lad (2000) and Shogun Lodge (1999) all finished in the top three in both races.

Beneteau's formlines also have a recent precedent in Miss Finland who was placed in the 2006 Blue Diamond before trouncing her Golden Slipper rivals two starts later.
