A horror draw and the tight Doomben track look formidable obstacles for Echoes Of Heaven in the Group Three Grand Prix Stakes but trainer Mick Price still feels his colt has some pluses in his favour.

Echoes Of Heaven, a Dwayne Dunn mount in Saturday's 2200-metre feature, has blossomed since arriving in Queensland following a fast-finishing second to Shadows In The Sun in the Group One South Australian Derby (2500m) at Morphettville on May 8.

Price has added blinkers to Echoes Of Heaven whose main winter target is the Group One Queensland Derby (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 11.

"I'm putting blinkers on him and hopefully they'll work," Price said.

"I just think he's been stargazing a bit lately and they'll help him concentrate more.

"Doomben is not his type of track and the alley (20) will mean he'll have to drop out which will make it very difficult for him.

"But if there's good speed on and everything went his way he can still win.

"There's normally a bit of a push to the first corner so hopefully he'll be able to get across into a handy spot."

A son of champion sire Encosta De Lago, Echoes of Heaven won the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m) and ran third in the Group Three Chairman's Stakes (2020m) at Morphettville prior to the South Australian Derby.

"He raced wide in the Port Adelaide Guineas which probably suited him and won well," Price said.

"In the Chairman's he was held up and had to go around them when he made his run."

Echoes Of Heaven will be striving to give his dam Shantha's Choice a fourth Group One winner in the Queensland Derby.

Shantha's Choice has already produced three foals to win at the highest level in champion sprinter and stallion Redoute's Choice, Platinum Scissors and Manhattan Rain.

She also produced another stakeswinner in Sliding Cube who won the Group Three San Domenico Stakes at Randwick in 2007.

A Queensland Derby win would place Shantha's Choice one short of thelegendary Eight Carat who left five Group One winners in Australasia - Octagonal, Kaapstad, Mouawad, Our Diamond Lover and Marquise.

Echoes Of Heaven is raced by his breeders Teeley Assets which is the bloodstock enterprise of Sri Lankan businessman Muzaffar Yaseen.
