Three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva will be covered by champion Vinery stallion More Than Ready next season.

Makybe Diva, whose first son by Galileo was sold for $1.5 million at this year's Sydney Easter Yearling Sale, has a chestnut weanling filly by Fusaichi Pegasus and is currently in foal to Encosta De Lago.

Owner Tony Santic said he decided on More Than Ready, who has sired more than 60 stakes winners worldwide for the dual Australian Racehorse of the Year ahead of Street Hero who will stand for the first time at his Makybe Stud near Geelong this season.

"At this stage of her breeding career it is best to choose a proven stallion in More Than Ready," Santic said.

He said Street Hero, who was a precocious two-year-old, was also a near perfect breeding match for Makybe Diva.

He won the Group One Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita and was Group One placed in the Del Mar Futurity and Bessemer Trust Breeders Cup Juvenile.

"I was seriously considering keeping her (Makybe Diva) for Street Hero as then I would have been on the spot when her foal was born," Santic said.

Vinery's Peter Orton said a More Than Ready and Makybe Diva mating offered "an ideal mix of pedigree, performance and a perfect physical match".

"More Than Ready has proven himself to be a sire of the highest calibre in the world today especially with what he has achieved in Australia as champion first season sire and went on to be the leading sire of two-year-olds for the past two seasons," Orton said.

The sire of the past two Golden Slipper winners, More Than Ready stands for $148,500. Street Hero's 2009 fee is $16,500 and he stands alongside Makybe's foundation sire Purrealist at $8,800.
