Young trainer David Pfieffer celebrated the biggest win of his short career when Graceful Anna set a track record to score a scorching victory in the $100,000 Magic Millions Stakes at Wyong.

The 29-year-old Pfieffer, who worked for late trainer Tony Wildman for 15 years, said he was feeling numb in the closing stages of the race as Graceful Anna blasted her rivals by 2-1/4 lengths to win the 1200 metre race for three-year-olds in 1.07.82.

She smashed the previous track record of 1.08.24 set by Marwin Gold and Ulladulla's race record of 1.09.24.

Ridden by Peter Robl, Graceful Anna started at $5.50 and travelled second for the best part of the trip behind leader Cortina Gal before exploding down the straight.

The Paul Messara-trained Knot Out ($12) was second with Tallow ($7.50) a length away third while the $3.50 favourite Military Gal was fourth and never threatened.

The race was over at the 200 metres and while the Warwick Farm-based Pfieffer expected something special from Graceful Anna, he admitted he was shocked by her dominant performance.

"I just went blank and at one point I think I went numb," Pfieffer said.

"She made them look pretty ordinary today, it was such a good run."

The Canny Lad filly was bought for $38,000 by former trainer Oliver Koolman who has been a massive supporter of Pfieffer's.

"It's a great feeling for a bloke like me who is a young trainer who has been given a go with a very good horse by these owners," Pfieffer said.

"I've only been training for just under two years.

"Oliver has been sensational to me. He's given me a few horses and half of his clients since he gave training away to spend more time with his family."

Graceful Anna is likely to be steered towards the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy (1400m) for three-year-olds at the Gold Coast on January 9.

"She's bred to get over that extra ground and we'll have a think about it," Pfieffer said.

Graceful Anna has now won three of her four starts.
