Gillian Heinrich has given a strong pointer to Military Grace being her Magic Millions Classic preference over stablemate Internal Revenue ahead of the pair's clash in the Listed BJ McLachlan Stakes at Doomben.

"There's something about Military Grace that I really like," Heinrich said.

"She's got the same mannerisms as Military Rose and they're very much alike."

However, Heinrich is hoping the pair aren't too similar as Military Rose, this year's Magic Millions Classic winner, dislikes wet tracks.

Doomben is in the heavy range for the 1200-metre Boxing Day feature and neither Military Grace nor Internal Revenue have experienced conditions worse than slow.

Heinrich's confidence with Military Grace, who scored a brilliant win in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes at Eagle Farm on December 11, hasn't waivered despite jockey Chris Munce's assessment of the pair.

Heinrich spoke with Munce before engaging him for Internal Revenue while Gold Coast rider Daniel Griffin will partner Military Grace, the early second favourite for the $2 million Gold Coast feature on January 15.

"I had the final say who would be riding them but when I spoke to Chris about it he gave the impression he liked Internal Revenue better," Heinrich said.

"That surprised me a little.

"I like Military Grace better although the colt has done a great job as well so far."

Munce was aboard Military Grace when the daughter of General Nediym won her first Queensland start since making her debut when runner-up to Spectrolite at Flemington last month.

Munce has ridden Internal Revenue, a son of Exceed And Excel, in all his three starts including a Doomben win on November 6 and a last-start second to I'm The One in the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes at Eagle Farm on December 11.

"Internal Revenue ran a great race last time and Chris thought he just ran out of nick," Heinrich said.

"It was his first run for a month and he's improved a lot since the run."

Heinrich hasn't been able to get a reliable guide on how both youngsters will handle a rain-affected track.

"They've both been working on the velvet track at the Coast and it's never affected by the rain even when it pours," she said..

"It's a great wet weather track and it's never heavy like grass tracks can be."

Heinrich has also dismissed breeding as some guide to her pair handling the wet.

"In some respects I hope Military Grace isn't like Military Rose because she hated the wet," Heinrich said.

"General Nediyms can handle the wet and I always thought More Than Readys love it.

"But we had a More Than Ready, Ready To Launch, in at Eagle Farm last Wednesday and he didn't go a yard in the wet," she said.
