An Encosta De Lago colt from the family of last year's AJC Sires' Produce winner Manhattan Rain has fetched $620,000 at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast.

Gai Waterhouse, Manhattan Rain's trainer, was the successful bidder on the colt who is out of Fusaichi Pegasus mare River Song.

Earlier, a Redoute's Choice filly bred on the renowned cross which produced champion Samantha Miss was bought for $520,000.

The filly was purchased by Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock and is the fifth foal out of Group-winning mare Piper Star.

The Redoute's Choice-Sir Tristram cross the filly is bred on not only produced Samantha Miss but also last year's Silver Slipper winner Melito.

Prices at the top end of the market continued to fall short of the $1 million mark on the third day of the sale.

A half-brother to last year's Golden Slipper and Magic Millions Classic winner Phelan Ready was passed in early in the session.

By Holy Roman Emperor out Nancy Eleanor, the colt failed to make his reserve price of $500,000 after bidding petered out at $460,000.
