David Payne is looking to Danza Doll to emulate Stripper's win in the Sweet Embrace Stakes at Randwick on Saturday but is hoping there is a much better aftermath.

The trainer believed Stripper was his best hope yet to win the $3.5 million Golden Slipper but those ambitions were wrecked when a foot abscess kept the filly out of the race.

Danza Doll is less experienced than Stripper was at the same stage going into Saturday's Group Three Slipper qualifier but her debut win on March 3 impressed punters and she is fourth pick on TAB Sportsbet.

"This will tell us if she is up to them," Payne said.

"Her win was against weaker opposition but the way she did it and the way she has improved since say she deserves a chance.

"If she wins the Sweet Embrace then she is worthy of going on to the Slipper."

As a three-year-old Stripper ran a close second to Duporth in the $1 million Golden Rose but bad luck struck again and she has been retired with a respiratory problem.

Payne will also have Magic Model in the Sweet Embrace but feels she may be a little bit behind her stablemate.

"She had a bit of a setback so we will see how far off them she is," he said.

"But you have to step them up and have a look. You don't know by sitting at home."

In 2007, the Payne-trained Vecchia Roma finished second in the Sweet Embrace but was out of the placings in the Slipper won by Forensics.

Vecchia Roma was due to run in the Listed Wenona Girl (1200m) on Saturday but an abscess has claimed her for the autumn.

"She has a huge abscess under a jowl," Payne said.

"I can't believe how unlucky she is. She had a virus that delayed the start of her campaign and now this.

"She will have a spell and I will get her ready for the Brisbane carnival."
