Denman's owner Paul Barber reports his pride and joy in "great order" following his run in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury last month.

The 10-year-old was bidding to win the famous handicap for the third time under top weight and while he could not quite pull it off, he put up a sterling performance to finish third behind Diamond Harry.

Denman now heads straight to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March and is enjoying his short winter break.

"He's in great order at the moment and he's due to go back in training in about two weeks' time," said Barber.

"It was a good job we roughed him off with the way the weather has been.

"He seems to have got over the run in Hennessy very well and he's enjoying life and his evening Polos.

"I've always got to give one to Kauto Star as well or he gets annoyed with me, but I give two to Denman!

"He's in great form and we look forward to the Gold Cup."
