Accolades continue to flow for Bart Cummings who has been named the Victorian Racing Media Association Personality of the Year.

It is the fourth time the master trainer has won the award since its inception in 1979.

Cummings beat Melbourne Cup winning trainer Mark Kavanagh to take this year's title.

Allez Wonder (Toorak Handicap), Viewed (Caulfield Cup) and Faint Perfume (VRC Oaks) were Cummings three Group One winners over the Melbourne spring carnival.

The trainer of 12 Melbourne Cup winners, Cummings had no luck in this year's race with 2008 winner Viewed the best of his three in seventh and Allez Wonder 16th and Caulfield Cup runner-up Roman Emperor 21st of the 23 runners.

Faint Perfume's win in the Oaks brought up the 257th victory at Group One level for Cummings who celebrated his 82nd birthday on Saturday.

During the Melbourne spring he launched his autobiography which was outdated as soon as it hit the stands.

Cummings first won the VRMA award in 1990 when Kingston Rule won the Melbourne Cup.

Let's Elope's Caulfield-Melbourne Cups double the following year helped his second win while in 1996 Saintly won the Cox Plate and the Melbourne Cup to again propel Cummings to centre stage.

Other past winners include Kavanagh, Makybe Diva's owner Tony Santic, jockeys Glen Boss, Damien Oliver and Beverley Buckingham, trainers George Hanlon, Lee Freedman, Gai Waterhouse and her father, the late TJ Smith.
