UK star Adelaide, the sole invited horse in the Cox Plate, will have his final gallop on Tuesday, but it won’t be at Moonee Valley's “Breakfast With The Best", reports Racing Network.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained horse is still in quarantine and will do his 1600-metre workout at Werribee.
The three-year-old by northern-hemisphere time does not come out of quarantine until the morning of the Cox Plate.
James Bester, the Coolmore media spokesman, said Adelaide had continued to thrive since arriving at Werribee eight days ago.
“His work last Thursday was great. He hasn’t turned a hair since he arrived,” Bester said.
Adelaide is rated a $6 third favourite in the latest Sportingbet market, which has Fawkner as the $4.25 favourite.
Ryan Moore, who will partner Adelaide in the Cox Plate, will arrive in Melbourne late this week and walk the Moobee Valley track on Friday.
While Moore has ridden in the past two Melbourne Cups, he’s never ridden at Moone Valley.
Moore will leave after the Cox Plate to attend the Breeders' Cup meeting at Santa Anita on November 1 & 2.
He will then fly back to ride German horse Protectionist in the Melbourne Cup.
