There will be three trains of thought in tomorrows Dato'Tan Chin Nam Stakes (Feehan Stakes to us oldies) and each of them has tremendous merit. There will be three trains of thought in tomorrows Dato'Tan Chin Nam Stakes (Feehan Stakes to us oldies) and each of them has tremendous merit. Firstly, the "horses for courses" punters will be in Whobegotyou's stall as this MV specialist has had 5 starts at the track for 4 wins with his only defeat in last years WS Cox Plate: the Plate where G Boss stole the race on So You Think. I awarded many of the jockeys 0/10 for their rides in the race.

Secondly, the "I beat you last time" brigade will be behind Shoot Out who beat Whobegotyou last start in the Memsie Stakes by 0.5L and Typhoon Tracy by 1.8L but supporters of the beaten pair will cry "we were first up" and quite fairly can claim lack of fitness caused their defeat.

Thirdly, racemap constructors will declare Typhoon Tracy will lead on her ear as there are no other genuine front runners in the race going on normal racing patterns of her opponents and with her ability to accelerate she is the one to beat.

If we assume TT will obtain the soft lead down the Dean Street side what will the riders of Shoot Out and Whobegotyou do? My thought (no, make that guess or hope) is that M Rodd on Whobe will sit off the pace and hope S Kathsidis on Shoot Out will serve it up to TT just past the 1200m mark and basically eyeball/intimidate the mare, which is what I would do, without bursting a blood vessel in the process. If this happens I believe TT will drop off a fraction second up over the 1600m at this level as her 1600m second up win in the Futurity Stakes, beating Dao Dao (12/1 plus in this field), was not of the same intensity as this race will produce.

That leaves Shoot Out having the measure of TT on the point of the turn, but only just as she will kick, but perhaps, and it is a tiny perhaps, leaving Whobe the last crack halfway down the straight. I have no doubt M Rodd will simply try and run as fast as a last 600m that W is able to and hope to arrive in the last 20-30 metres. It will be the type of ride he executed on Faint Perfume when she won the Vinery Stud Stakes when he basically took off at the 600m mark or thereabouts.

The perfect result would be a triple dead heat but that's pushing it so I will go for Whobegotyou from Shoot Out from Typhoon Tracy thus making my 100% market as $2.80 (35.71%) Whobegotyou, $2.90 (34.48%) and Typhoon Tracy $3.30 (30.30%).

Now, what if S Katsidis decides to lead.....????
