It's been revealed that Victorian Racing Minister Rob Hulls met with Racing Victoria officials several days before the decision was made to axe jumps racing...but the minister says he never put any pressure on the board to ditch the jumps. And RV's Rob Hines says: 'Any suggestions or allegations made in Parliament that political pressure or threats were placed on RVL regarding this issue, or in fact any other issue, are false and absurd.' The big question is whether there are any 'minutes' from the meeting? Who said what? What was discussed? Did anyone make detailed notes and, if so, will they be released for the public? Maybe we'll never know what was said. We can only accept the assurances of Hulls and Hines that the anti-jumps minister never said a dicky-bird about banning the jumps industry.
