Sydney’s premier jockey in-waiting James McDonald may be forced to wait some more before he is able to get past Nash Rawiller on the premiership table.

McDonald has been suspended for six meetings by Racing NSW stewards and pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding after winning on Ball Of Muscle at Canterbury today.

The young rider had only been back in the irons for two meetings after serving a suspension for a similar offence.

Rawiller, 70 wins, currently leads McDonald (68) by two wins in the Sydney metropolitan jockey’s premiership.

But last season's premier jockey will not improve on his tally this term, and left to start a two month stint riding in Japan yesterday.

McDonald’s suspension will begin after next Wednesday’s meeting at Warwick Farm. (racing network)
