Star galloper So You Think may not be lost to Australian racing. That's the opinion of Betstar's Alan Eskander who has dual Cox Plate champion an $8 fav to successfully defend his title in 2011. He told PPD: 'Everyone seems to be convinced that Coolmore will send So You Think to the breeding barn after the Royal Ascot Carnival but why not bring him back here for a third Cox Plate? They paid a lot of money for him and Australian prizemoney is as good, if not better than anywhere in the world. And
Star galloper So You Think may not be lost to Australian racing. And with the Aussie dollar so strong, Coolmore mightn't need much convincing to bring him back here. Until they say otherwise, he's our Cox Plate favorite.'
Betstar has More Joyous second pick at $11 for the 2011 Cox Plate while this year's runner-up Zipping is at $26. He'll be a long-tooth 10yo by the time next year's race comes around. The Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup markets are headed by Maluckyday. Eskander says the 4yo's 2nd to Americain in the Melbourne Cup was outstanding. He adds: 'There was general consensus that this year's Melbourne Cup field was the best for decades yet this 4yo was able to run a mighty 2nd to a super French stayer in American at just his ninth career start. Maluckyday is the emerging superstar of staying races in Australia and we had no hesitation in nominating him as our early favourite for next year's Cups.'
Maluckyday is quoted at $17 for the Caulfield Cup and $15 for the Melbourne Cup. Alan Eskander says: 'We were also impressed by both the VRC Derby and Oaks winners in Lion Tamer and Brazilian Pulse and they're on the second line of Caulfield Cup betting with Moudre who will be better for this year's experience at the top level, even though he wasn't able to squeeze into the fields for either of the Cups. We also liked the form of Linton this spring and he's the second pick in the Melbourne Cup market...This year's Melbourne Cup winner Americain is on the fourth line of betting at $26 for next year's race.'
