Hugh Bowman got away to an expected 'slow' start to his latest UK riding stint at Royal Ascot overnight. He finished 6th of 14 on 40/1 chance Gallic Star and 13th of 25 aboard another 40/1 roughie Atlantic Sport. Both were trained by Mick Channon. Bowman has 3 rides on the final day of the Ascot carnival on Saturday night - Majestic Rose 33/1 in race 1, Halicarnassus 20/1 in race 5 and Momkinzain 33/1 in race 6. Steven Arnold will ride Star Witness in the Golden Jubilee Stakes.

Danny O'Brien's top sprinter Star Witness is second favorite at 9/2 for Saturday night's big sprint at Royal Ascot, the Golden Jubilee Stakes 1200m. Favorite for the race is the Godolphin star Delegator 4/1. Star Witness is backing up after his bold 2nd in the 1000m King's Stand Stks on Tuesday. The popular At The Races website says: 'Star Witness ran a cracker in the King's Stand Stakes on the opening day and should be even more effective over the sixth furlong. He's better drawn than the filly (Hooray 10/1) on evidence to date and is worth a saver.'

Timeform is predicting a Star Witness triumph in the Golden Jubilee. It says: 'Star Witness looked as though a step back up to 6f would suit when second here on Tuesday and is taken to go one better.'
