Samaready has received 65 percent of all win bets since the barrier draw and firmed from $2.50 to $2.40. The biggest bet this afternoon on the favorite has been $8,000 at $2.50. Pierro, who was well backed last night with $10,000 at $9, firmed ($6 to $5.50) after drawing barrier 1 but has since drifted back out. One of the first bets taken this afternoon was $400 e/w at $126 on Faustus. Gai Waterhouse has a strong representation and is $2.65 to win with any of her runners. This year's winner is likely to be a filly and is $1.48 with TAB Sportsbet.
