Good news...Racing Victoria has unveiled increases to prizemoney levels across the state from Aug 1, 2012. Both metropolitan and country racing will be boosted by the prizemoney injection. The highlights include an increase of standard country races from $12,000 to a minimum of at least $14,000 per race while every Saturday city race meeting will conduct at least two $100,000 races on each program. A total of $15 million has been set aside to contribute to prizemoney increases with an additional amount to be finalised and made possible by the pending agreement between Country Racing Victoria and Racing Victoria to streamline administration costs with all savings from this process to be used exclusively for country racing prize money increases.

Werribee will host its first meeting of the 2011/12 season this Saturday, while Benalla Racecourse will see racing for the first time in more than a year on Sunday.Saturday's seven-race card will be the first meeting staged at Werribee since the cup on March 18.
