Potential Melbourne Cup runners Brown Panther and Godolphin’s Cavalryman will tackle The Queen’s horse Estimate in Thursday night's Goodwood Cup in England.

Brown Panther, who won the race last year before coming to Australia where he ran eighth in the Melbourne Cup, is set for a similar path again this year.

Cavalryman is an eight-year-old veteran racing in arguably the best form of his career and Godolphin is seriously considering bringing him back to Melbourne.

He contested the 2012 Melbourne Cup when 12th to Green Moon.

The Goodwood Cup is run over two miles (3200 metres) and Estimate, a last start second over 4000 metres in the Ascot Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, is the 15-8 favourite ahead o fBrown Panther at 7-2 and Cavalryman at 5-1. (Racing Network)
