The Paul Messara-trained Rekindled Alliance has had a fatal heart attack after a track gallop. Stable spokesman Barry Wyntle says: 'He was just out doing evens, nothing strenuous, but as he finished his work the rider said he felt weak underneath so he jumped off and then the horse just gave way.' Rekindled Alliance finished 2nd to Colorado Clare in the Grp 2 Phar Lap Stakes before running 2nd to Australian Derby runner-up Polish Knight in the Grp 2 Tulloch Stakes. He also was 2nd in the 2011 Grp 3 Spring Stakes and 3rd in the Grp 3 Frank Packer Plate.
