What about Moudre's CaulfieldCup plans? The country star needed to win the Naturalism to ensure he could get a start but the best he could do was 3rd. While connections are now battling to get the gelding into the Caulfield Cup, jockey Craig Williams is pushing the cause while at the same time warning that Moudre's prob ably not at his best on the Caulfield circuit. He says Moudre's strong finishing effort was first class but adds: 'The way the track was racing it's hard to make ground and he was flat out at the 600 metres...He's done a great job to get where he did...It just shows that when he steps up in grade it is a lot tougher and, personally, I don't think that Caulfield is his track.'

Moudre's trainer Ciaron Maher says the Herbert Power Handicap at Caulfield on Guineas Day, only a week before the Caulfield Cup, is an option for the stayer, as is the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on Oct 2. But he's not rushing into a decision ans says he'll make the next move in the best interests of the horse. Connections, though, are starting to think that Flemington is Moudre's best track and that means the Melbourne Cup.
