MEPUNGA Tiara is the big firmer in TAB’s market for Thursday night’s $250,000 RSN Sandown Cup (715m), the world’s richest race for stayers.
A winner of last Thursday night’s fourth heat from box six, Mepunga Tiara was $151 before the heats and is now into $6 from box six.
“The other major firmer has been Kiwi raider Know Class, who was $26 before winning the second heat and is into $11 now from box five in the final,” TAB’s Adam Hamilton said.
In a series of upsets, hotshot Sweet It Is just scraped into the final with a second to Butterfly Bling in heat three.
“It’s a very different looking final with prepost favourites Xylia Allen and Rocky Bale failing to qualify. That leaves Sweet It Is, who won the Association Cup at Wentworth Park on Easter Egg night, as the only remaining ‘glamour’ runner from the prepost big guns,” Hamilton said.
Break O Day (box two), who chased home Mepunga Tiara in heat four, is $6.50 third favourite from Zipping Joe (box 3) at $7.
