JOCKEY Rebecca Williams has been discharged from hospital

Top female jockey Rebecca Williams is out of hospital after undergoing heart surgery last week following a sickening incident at Kerang on Easter Saturday. Victorian Jockeys Association CEO Des O’Keeffe says Rebecca is in good spirits following surgery to repair a heart valve that was damaged when she was kicked in the chest in the mounting yard. “The force of the kick actually split a valve, she is a very lucky,” O’Keeffe says. Surgeons were happy with the operation and Rebecca will see them again some time in July. The timeline for Williams to return to riding is four to six months.
