Despite an ordinary performance in the Caulfield Cup, the Godolphin stayer Kirklees will continue on to the Melbourne Cup. Godolphin's rep Diana Cooper says: 'We were initially a bit disappointed with Kirklees but on reflection he has hopefully put himself right for the Melbourne Cup...He stayed on well in the straight after being shuffled back on the far side and may have been a bit ring-rusty.'
