Surely riders, particularly apprentices, shouldn't be shackled in races with the whip rule changes before they come in on August 1.'

The Boss Man is off to the USA...Glen Boss will ride Kiwi filly Puttanesca in the American Oaks. He says: 'I've never ridden over there before so it is a good opportunity for me.' Puttanesca, trained by Wayne Hillis, is expected to stay in the US to continue her career following the grade 1 American Oaks. Michael Rodd and Craig Williams were offered the US ride but declined.
