Cox Plate betting was turned on its head at TAB.COM.AU Firstly, unbeaten mare Atlantic Jewel was the subject of a huge bet to win the race and later flashy grey Puissance De Lune surged into favouritism on the back of a strong first-up win.
One TAB customer outlaid $20,000 @ $8 on Atlantic Jewel to win the Cox Plate earlier in the day. The Mark Kavanagh-trained galloper’s price was turned in to $7 as a result of the bet. A little less than two hours later, Puissance De Lune was simply devastating in his return to racing at Flemington.
A notable drifter in the Lawrence Stakes ($2.20 out to $3.60), the Darren Weir-trained runner simply toyed with his rivals when coming from last for a super win. As such, TAB Fixed Odds saw his price to win the Cox Plate slashed from $9 to a clear $5 favourite. He is also $6.50 into $5.00 to win the Emirates Melbourne Cup.
Kiwi raider It’s A Dundeel, now on the second line of betting at $6.50, and Super Cool ($7) are the only other runners under double figures.
