The MC, though, is winnable provided it's a badly rain-affected track. Trainer Murray Baker says the gelding has pleased him in his recent work. He adds: 'He won a 1200m trial two weeks ago beating Harris Tweed and a Group Three winner...He's having a gallop between races over here on Wednesday and he flies over to Melbourne next week and will based at Flemington.' Lion Tamer will resume in the Grp 2 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on Aug 27 before heading to the Grp 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Sep 10.

Some concern...Randwick trainer Grahame Begg will be keeping close tabs on his Grp 1 winner Ilovethiscity after the horse trod on a nail in the lead-up to his return to racing in Sat's Grp 2 Warwick Stakes 1400m at Warwick Farm. Begg told Racing NSW stewards that Ilovethiscity had 'pulled a shoe in its work and trodden on a nail' but was not showing signs of lameness. Begg is to report to stewards on Thursday to advise them of any developments. In latest betting, Ilovethiscity is $3.60 fav for the Warwick Stks.
