Auckland Cup Week kicks off on Saturday with the running of the $2.2m Grp 1 New Zealand Derby (3YO, 2400m) at Ellerslie. With a purse of NZ$2.2 mil, the Derby is the richest event on offer for 3YOs in NZ. The classic contest has attracted a quality field of 17 with the early fav being the star three-year-old, Jimmy Choux.
