Stewards had accused DG of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to give Deer Valley every chance when the filly finished 6th behind Sweepstaking. They were particularly concerned about his 'reluctance' to improve his position between the 700m and the 400m, claiming this contributed to the filly's defeat. The appeal hearing, however, cleared the young rider of any wrongdoing.
