AFTER a week where everything seemingly went wrong, Robbie Laing is confident that Victoria Derby winner Polanski can still have an impact on the Australian Guineas, reports Racing Network.

Polanski missed the Group 2 Autumn Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 8 when the colt contracted a bout of ringworm. While the ringworm lingered longer than Laing wished, Polanski was still ready to take his place in yesterday’s C.S. Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.

But, Laing said Polanski scrambled in the float when being taken to trackwork and took off some skin from his rear.

“I reckon I could have run him, but it looks terrible,” Laing said.

Laing said Polanski had not missed any trackwork and would be right for the $500,000 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 1.
