On Sunday, the final Sha Tin race saw four-year-old Mentor win first-up and the similarities with Gamekeepers (Douglas Whyte) are not perfect but they'll do until identical twins come along.

Mentor had won four of five races in his first campaign to late January, then was tipped out for a rest by Size when he came up with a temperature. He returned for two starts on June 13 and July 4, putting the writing on the wall in the latter with his fourth.

Gamekeepers won three of his first five to the end of January, before he too didn't race again until June. He doesn't appear to have had any serious issue and, unlike Mentor, he trialled four times in that period, but Size may have decided a rest was warranted after his good start. Then Gamekeepers also returned on June 17 and July 11, with the latter a slashing third over this course, and enough to leave him freshened but with some residual fitness.
