It's welcome back Magic Man at Happy Valley tonight and it looks like Joao Moreira will be greeted with a win in the night's feature, the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union Cup (1,650m) too, reports the HK Racing Post.

Moreira returns needing one win to reach his century for the season, a feat which will see him join Douglas Whyte and Zac Purton in the 100 club - in record time, too - and if he hasn't struck gold by race seven, Goodheart Success looks a prime candidate to bring up the milestone.

There isn't much doubt that Danny Shum Chap-shing-trained Goodheart Success should have won his last start over the same course and punters will rally behind Moreira to correct that wrong this evening.

The five-year-old has been working up to a win in his last few starts, with a placing behind Sky Hero, a fourth to Renaissance Art, and third to Strong Foundation but it was his last effort that will make him favourite tonight.

Moreira had the gelding in a great striking position coming to the home turn in the race won by Trendy Win and it looked a simple matter of getting him into clear air to finish the job. It proved not quite so simple, with Goodheart Success having a gap close on him sharply nearing the 250m and he was stopped in his tracks.

When Moreira got him balanced up again and out after the leaders, Goodheart Success found the line with a rush but the post was too close and his owners had to settle for second place and a good story.

There is some speed in the race, with regular frontrunners Little Dragon (Alvin Ng Ka-chun) and Horse Aplenty drawn out wide, as is Golden Addiction (Olivier Doleuze) who is usually handy. These three will likely be sweeping around the field into the first turn to the forward spots, the danger then for Goodheart Success and other run-on horses is that the leaders will get a chance to steady the speed right down in the middle stages.
