The Tony Cruz-Gerald Mosse team is red hot at the moment and the duo can turn the heat up even further in the EWO Challenge Trophy (1,000m) tonight at Happy Valley with promising sprinter Best Fit. Last week Cruz landed six winners, five of them with Mosse on board, and the French rider recently had his club contract extended by one week to take in tonight's card and the Sha Tin fixture on Sunday.

That suggests he is keen to go with the flow of winners coming out of the Cruz stable ahead of Matthew Chadwick's return from suspension next week, and Best Fit looks one of the strong hopes from the yard in the feature.

The unexplained mystery of Best Fit's form is his utter failure second-up down the Sha Tin straight, as he has been solid winning his other two starts there and over the Valley 1,000m.

He could not have won much more easily than he did last time out in his first attempt at Happy Valley and the rise from Class Four to Class Three this time should not trouble the three-year-old.

But, despite a small field, Mosse's brilliant riding form is crucial as the French ace will have decisions to make in the early stages and jockeys in form tend to make the right choices.

From gate five last start, Best Fit was fast enough to find the rail and dominate the race, and he has the same gate in the EWO Trophy.

However, along with the grade rise comes some really quick opposition with horses like Solar Up, Lucky Red, Turin Champion and Amedeo, but not limited to those runners and there could be a load of pressure on the front end of the race.

An in-form Mosse will know instinctively whether Best Fit should fight for a share of the lead or trail others burning themselves up going forward and with the right decision, he is clearly the one to beat.
