IT'S NOT OVER

Until she sings.

Well, it's nearly over for Flemington and blow me down they now turn around and think they might even have a good track!

Melbourne, huh?

I love the place BUT again we learnt that betting antepost on the big stuff can be suicidal. Half the horses on Tuesday couldn't (or wouldn't) put their feet down.

And when they did, they found themselves bogged.

This Saturday the racing will be on a somewhat better surface, but (there's always a "but") there may also be some surprises. This day traditionally springs a few of them.

If you're winning over the carnival week, hold onto the cash and play things close to your chest.

If you're not, remember that there'll be easier days very soon.

Just treat this one like a relaxing day, and take my advice on board:

That money in your pocket is YOURS to the very instant you place it on a horse.

Then, for a period predetermined by you, someone else has it.

And you may never see it again.

So go carefully. This Saturday is a hard day!

(ps. What odds Channel 7 treats us to all the beautiful people hugging and kissing, when we really want to see the finish in detail? They've been very quiet on that awful practice this year, but I reckon Saturday might be the day for it to re-emerge!)
