Indeed, the warning is for us. The offers now on sale are no longer bargains. They have been snapped up. The Cox Plate market is at present priced at about 150 and higher. That's betting madness. The Moonee Valley Cup is a better proposition, but it too should spread out when the last half hour of investment commences.

There are EASIER RACES on every carnival day.

Easier than the Cox Plate, unless you dived in early and took one or two of the overs that were around weeks ago.

Easier than the Caulfield Cup last week.

Certainly easier than the Group Ones on Derby Day next weekend.

And you know what comes next... virtually anything is easier than that two mile event on Tuesday November 3.

Nobody is suggesting you stay out of them. They can offer amazing multiplies and exotics to the lucky few, and why shouldn't it be you? It isn't as if you're guessing. You KNOW your horses or you wouldn't be here with me.

Just go easy. Imagine if easier races are run either side of a big one, and you could have picked both of their winners, yet you hang off to bet big in the Cox Plate, or the Cup.

Easy for me to give this advice? Of course it is, but I am speaking with the voice of experience. Been there, done that. Nothing to gain by appearing to be a wet blanket. Just maybe saving you some years of learning.

I just want to conclude with this caveat:

Sure, have a shot at the big ones, but remember that the $6 winner in any minor race pays exactly the same as your $6 selection in the big one, and is so much easier to find!
