Trainer Chris Waller is leaving the door open to use the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30 as a potential Spring launching pad for a quartet of his stable stars.

Though he admitted it wasn’t the preferred option, Waller said depending on track conditions and the way things fall into place, Group 1 winners Sacred Falls, Boban, Royal Descent and Hawkspur could all head south to begin their preparations.

“We’ve got (The Memsie) pencilled in there for Sacred Falls, if he didn’t happen to start before that in the Warwick Stakes (1400m),” Waller said.

“Boban is also pencilled in. A horse like Boban needs a good track, so he’ll either stay in Sydney or Melbourne, wherever the best tracks are.

“Hawkspur’s pencilled in for it, but also pencilled in the week before in the Warwick Stakes and Royal Descent the same again.”

Sacred Falls is one of a number of Waller’s big names set to resume via a barrier trial at Rosehill in Sydney on Monday.

With the back-to-back Doncaster Mile (1600m) winner currently rated the $7 favourite in the early Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m) market with Luxbet, Waller said at this stage Sacred Falls’ first aim was the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick in September.

“That’s a weight-for-age Group 1 race where he’s already won two Group 1 races,” he said.

“I’d love him to win a Group 1 race on a good track because he’s not just a wet tracker.

“That still gives you plenty of time to get to Melbourne.

“He’s had the benefit of racing around Moonee Valley last preparation (spring), he ran second or third in the Crystal Mile, so he’s ticked most boxes.

“We’ve just got to make sure he comes up and is still at his best in October.”

Sacred Falls is scheduled to trial alongside stable mates Boban, Hawkspur, Foreteller and Kencella over 900m in the first of 12 heats at Rosehill.

Weary is also accepted for the heat - alongside the Team Hawkes trio of Messene, Entirely Platinum and Angel Bee - however the exciting grey import is an unlikely runner after trialling at Randwick on Friday.
