The all-new renovated track at Sportingbet Park (Sandown) has been given the all-clear following official trials on the new surface on Friday. Six trials were conducted on the track which received outstanding reviews from the jockeys who took part.
Racing Victoria’s Chairman of Stewards, Terry Bailey, told Racing Network the track had performed extremely well.
“All the comments from the riders are very good and the track played exceptionally well,” Bailey said.
“Everything looks very good.
"I can see absolutely no reason why we won’t be on target to resume racing here in a few weeks,” Bailey added.
The scheduled start for a return to racing is Wednesday, February 19, and Track Manager, Tim Bailey, says he is thrilled with the track and the fact racing will return to the popular circuit.
“We are all very happy with the result of the track.
"It’s been almost six months since we raced and it will probably take 12 months of racing to really appreciate what we have done,” Bailey said.
“It does appear we have really achieved the result we are looking for,” he added. (racing network)
