Team Hawkes has ruled out the possibility of running Divine Prophet in the Cox Plate, preferring to send their Caulfield Guineas winner to the paddock.

Co-trainer Wayne Hawkes said the Choisir colt had come through Saturday's win in fine order but the decision to end his campaign was made with an eye already on the autumn.

"He's fine, it is just a case of job done and he is going for a break," Hawkes said.

"He has got the Group 1 and we thought it was best to allow him to enjoy some time off."

Team Hawkes' decision to spell Divine Prophet is likely to result in Yankee Rose being the only three-year-old to contest the Cox Plate this year.

Connections of Sacred Elixir had paid up for the Cox Plate at the latest acceptance but trainer Tony Pike indicated he would progress to the Vase at Moonee Valley before running in the Victoria Derby.

Caulfield Guineas runner-up Seaburge is also nominated for the Cox Plate but will run in the Caulfield Classic on Saturday with Kerrin McEvoy to ride.
