Betting on the leading first season sire by individual Australian winners went right down to the wire last season with Not a Single Doubt claiming a one win margin over Fastnet Rock and Shamardal (USA), so competition is expected to be fierce again this time around with Sportingbet Australia installing Golden Slipper winner Stratum as the early favourite, reports Breednet.com.au.
It says: Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the Widden Stud based son of Redoute's Choice looked likely to make an immediate impact as a stallion.
"Stratum (pictured) has 150 live foals on the ground and all reports are that he will produce plenty of early goers," said Sullivan. "He's served some excellent broodmares and will have every chance to make his mark this season.
Sullivan said other stallions to have excellent early reports were the Glenlogan Park Stud based pair of Bradbury's Luck and Jet Spur. "All reports suggest that both these sires will have plenty of speedy types," Sullivan said. "While it's hard to write off the likes of Snitzel, Gods Own and Starcraft after their exploits on the track."
