Snow Alert added his name to a long list of stakes winners in an illustrious thoroughbred family when he scored a deserved stakes success in the listed Rowley Mile (1600m) at Hawkesbury on Saturday.

The Chris Waller prepared galloper had won five races and was was already stakes placed, but was able to score a career highlight victory when he snuck home in a driving finish. At the post Snow Alert ($6) held a head margin over former Kiwi mare Keffiya ($11), while Parfumier ($9.50) was another short head away in third place.

The gelding, another stakes winner bred and raised at Stratheden Stud, sent his earnings to $298,730 with his Rowley win. He is a graduate of the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Snow Alert, a gelding by Red Ransom, is a three quarter brother to the dual Group Two winner Portillo. Being one of three winners from the twice French stakes placed Groom Dancer mare Flurry, Snow Alert is a half brother to the international stakes winner Fidelio's Miracle. Flurry is in turn from the stakes winning Thatching mare Snowtop, making her a half sister to grand Australian producer Snowdrift.

As well as being the dam of Portillo, Snowdrift is the dam of Group One winner Snowland, stakes winning sire Snippetson and two other stakes performers. Also close up in his pedigree are international stakes winners Myboycharlie, Asset, Adamile, Flashing Star and Assert.
