Shamal Wind appears to be on song for Tuesday’s Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes (1000m) at Royal Ascot according to her trainer Robert Smerdon.

Smerdon said the five-year-old seems to have suffered no ill effects from the trip to England and has settled in well.

“She did a bit of work yesterday (Wednesday) and she may or may not do a little bit more work on Saturday morning,” Smerdon said.

“We’ll just see how she is between now and Saturday and make a decision but she’s pretty much where she needs to be at the moment.”

The five-year-old, who was last seen winning the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield in February, was rated an $8.60 chance with Betfair on Thursday.

Fellow Australian sprinter Brazen Beau has drifted out to $9 in the King’s Stand betting with the three-year-old expected to miss the race in favour of the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (1200m) on Saturday week.
