Saturday's feature jumps meeting at Sandown has been abandoned.

And the county meeting at Kilmore has also be lost due to the torrential overnight rain while the Lismore meeting has also been postponed

Racing Victoria chairman of stewards Terry Bailey officially abandoned the Sandown meeting at 6.27 am after inspecting the track where 56 ml of rain had fallen overnight.

Bailey described the track as “waterlogged” and likened it to a “Heavy 12”

“There had been 56 ml up until 5am and it hasn’t stopped raining in the hour and a half after that,” Bailey said.

“The forecast was for continual rain. If it had of let up we might have had a shot at it.”

Bailey said there was surface water around the track and the steeple track was far worse.

“It was waterlogged. A Heavy 12. I hadn’t seen it that waterlogged in my time,” Bailey said.

RV Operations Manager Paul Bloodworth and Melbourne Racing Club officials are trying to find a suitable date to run the $100,000 Australian Hurdle and $100,000 Australian Steeplechase.

Kilmore was abandoned at 7.20 am following a track inspection which found surface water at the 1400 m and 1600 m.
