Rock Sturdy is out of Saturday's Grp 1 Epsom 1600m with trainer Joe Pride holding fears that the talented four-year-old may not race again due to injury.

Favourite for the Epsom after his dominant win in the Shannon Stakes, Pride revealed Rock Sturdy has suffered a suspensory ligament injury on Wednesday morning.

"I'm still waiting to get him scanned but it doesn't look good unfortunately," Pride said.

"These injuries are never good but I think it might be over."

As a result, Pride will now run Laser Hawk in the Epsom rather than the Craven Plate.

Rock Sturdy is still an entire and would be seen as a valuable breeding prospect given he is a son of Fastnet Rockout of quality mare Tzu Hsi.
