PETER Moody didn’t mince his words about Juantorena, winner of Friday's Swettenham Stud Summer Championship heat, reports Racing Network.

“He’s a good horse, there’s better things in store for him,” declared Moody after Juantorena cruised away to a two and a quarter length win.

“Even though he’s four, he’s still a bit immature. I think he has a good future, he’s certainly capable of winning better races.”

Moody flagged the likelihood that Juantorena would have one more start this prepararion then probably end up in Brisbane during the winter carnival.

When asked if Juantorena could emerge as a potential Stradbroke candidate, Moody replied: “That’s a big bow, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

“He’s going to end up a good quality handicapper.

“He has always showed us good ability from day one, but we’ve just had to be patient. He’s had a very little soft tissue issues.

“Owner Greg Perry has been very patient. I think he’ll certainly make a very good handicapper.”

Juantorena, backed from $3.80 to $3.60 favourite, extended like a good horse when Regan Bayliss asked him to extend in the straight.

The Terricks, a $14 chance, ran on well for second while Sava Nugget, $6, was a long neck away third.
