NOT content with a Melbourne and Caulfield Cup
NOT content with a Melbourne and Caulfield Cup, Sheikh Fahad al Thani plans a multi-pronged assault on this year’s spring carnival.
Sheikh Fahad, in Sydney for the Inglis yearling sale, told TVN he has three horses targeted at the Melbourne Cup while Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden will possibly take aim at the Cox Plate.
Asked about a return for a third successive year, Sheik Fahad said he had “three coming over hopefully.”
Pressed about their identity, Sheik Fahad replied: “I’m keeping that a secret for now, but hopefully we will send three over.”
Sheikh Fahad said Dunaden was badly in need of the run when he stormed home for fourth in the Sheema Classic at Meydan late last month.
“We will hopefully find another race for him this year in Australia, but it won’t be the Melbourne Cup.
“He has to go for weight-for-age. If he handles 10 furlongs (sic 2000 m) then we will send him over. We will try him back home first.”
