Legendary Hall Of Fame trainer Bob Hoysted has died at the age of 88. Hoysted is best remembered in Australia as the trainer of the great Manikato, who among many amazing wins recorded five consecutive wins in the William Reid Stakes.

Hoysted spent many years as President of the Australian Trainers Association as the spokesman for his peers.

Hoysted controlled the careers of many wonderful gallopers, not just Manikato, with horses like Sydeston andRiver Rough.

It is widely considered his management of a rapidly ailing Manikato in his later years as the only reason why the old warhorse managed to keep on winning at the highest level.

Hoysted was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame in 2008. (racingnetwork)
