TRAINER Joe Pride is preparing to strike while the iron is hot and back up Doncaster Mile champ Sacred Choice in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It says: Pride had failed to make an impact on the major races before Saturday's Doncaster triumph. But the Warwick Farm horseman is now in the box seat to claim his second major within seven days, with Vision And Power also due to run in the $500,000 weight-for-age contest.

"She has been a bit of a ride, this carnival," he said. "I went in thinking I had the best team I have ever approached the carnival with, but I've had an unbelievable run of bad luck with injuries and came up empty-handed all carnival, so to come away with a big one at the end is very satisfying."

Pride's plan to keep Sacred Choice fresh for the Doncaster Mile paid dividends but a potentially weak Queen Elizabeth is tempting him to give her another opportunity at Group 1 glory.
