Imported stayer Tac De Boistron will run first up in the Group 1 Sydney Cup
Imported stayer Tac De Boistron will run first up in the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) at Randwick on April 27 as long as the track is wet, reports Racing Victoria.
It says: After finishing second last in a trial over 1600 metres at Werribee, managing owner Darren Dance of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock said the six-year-old was fit enough but simply doesn’t handle firm ground.
“The track was probably just a bit firm for him today, he’s on track for the Sydney Cup but we just need it to rain,” Dance said. "Mick’s (Kent) got him fit and he’s happy with him.”
Tac De Boistron finished sixth of seven at his Australian debut in the Geelong Cup (2400m), before struggling on the Good rated track when second last in the Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m).
In other news from the Werribee trials, Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) winner Shellscrape showed he has his mind back on racing after a short career at stud, leading throughout to win Heat 7 over 800 metres.
Now in the care of Cranbourne trainer Nikki Burke, Shellscrape has been nominated for an 1100 metre handicap at Caulfield on Saturday with Burke saying she would see how the six-year-old entire pulled up before making a final decision.
