FRESH from her dominant Gold Coast experience, Gai Waterhouse is now turning her attention on Victoria’s Festival Of Racing, reports Racing Network.

Waterhouse this week will send a team of horses to Melbourne, spearheaded by Golden Slipper winner Overreach.

Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente, aimed towards the $1 million Australian Cup, will follow later.

While Overreach will be targeted at the Lightning Stakes/Oakleigh Plate then Newmarket, Waterhouse will have a multi-pronged attack on the Australian Guineas.

Waterhouse’s stable manager Mark Newnham said Aussies Love Sport and Bull Point would both head to Melbourne.

Aussies Love Sport and Bull Point, which both missed the Melbourne spring carnival, are coming off a trial and exhibition gallop respectively in the past few days.

Aussies Love Sport, which hasn’t started since finishing third in the Stan Fox, won a trial at Warwick Farm last Friday while Bull Point, which hasn’t appeared since his extraordinary third behind Zoustar in the Golden Rose, easily had Carlton House covered in yesterday’s gallop at Warwick Farm.

Newnham said there were several options for both youngsters, including kicking off in the Manfred Stakes (1200 m) at Caulfield on February 1 or the Autumn Stakes a week later.

He said juvenile Francesco, third at his only start behind Kumaon in the Golden Gift at Rosehill, is also Melbourne-bound.

Francesco is one of six youngsters that Waterhouse has among the 181 second nominations for the $1 Blue Diamond on February 22.
